Gaming Zone

Retro Gaming

New games and consoles appear on the market all the time, but will they stand up to the test of time like so many before them? Retro gaming is always one of the most popular areas of our Gaming Zone with all ages, and London Film and Comic Con will be the place for you to relive some of your much loved gaming experiences.

If you grew up arguing with your friends who was going to be Ryu or Yoshimitsu, you will love the range of fighting games we will have on offer. Challenge your friends to the ultimate rematch, or show the younger generation your skills on your favourite consoles from the past.

While playing Virtua Fighter 2 on the Sega Saturn at Film and Comic Con Manchester, one of our visitors told us “The older consoles and games still really stand up against the newer ones, plus there’s a level of nostalgia”

Our rhythm games section is great for families and groups of friends to enjoy gaming together with a less competitive edge. Whether you choose to beat out the rhythm on the bongos with Donkey Konga on the GameCube or keep up with the music with Rock Band on Xbox 360, you’re sure to have retro musical party time.

Sonic the Hedgehog, Mario and Alex Kidd will also be attending alongside other favourite characters from some of the golden years of platform gaming. How fast can your speed Sonic through Emerald Hill Zone and can you still remember which of the pipes take Mario to the bonus levels?

Our Gaming Zone will be the perfect place to relive your memories and get your hands on some of the classic games that you might have missed

Modern Gaming

Get hands on with the latest titles on Playstation 4 and Xbox One such as Star Wars Battlefront, Halo 5 and Naruto Shippuden Ninja Storm 4. Have you got a brilliant new move that you want to show your friends, or maybe you just want to try out a new title before you buy it for yourself? The modern gaming section is brilliant for taking five minutes out to relax and recharge with one of your favourite titles or to try out something new.

It’s not just about AAA titles though, there will also be a range of four player Indie games available for you to play with your friends. Gangbeasts, Overruled, Rocket League and Speed Runners will be available on PCs for you to challenge your friends and family to some crazy and fun multiplayer matches.

For the ultimate in modern day gaming we will have Oculus Rift headsets available for you to play on and discover virtual reality gaming for yourself. Lucky’s Tale is a beautiful and colourful platform gaming that’s great for the whole family, or you can get a little more serious with DOOM or Duke Nukem like never before.

VR Gaming

Lucky’s Tale takes the classic third person platformer game style but with a virtual reality twist, as the game was designed exclusively for Oculus Rift. You guide a small fox. Lucky, through a world of lush trees and swamp pits taking on monsters and fighting powerful bosses. This is a great game for all ages and is always popular at our shows.

One of our seven year old visitors to Film and Comic Con Manchester had this to say about the Oculus Rift after playing Lucky’s Tale. “I’ve seen the Oculus Rift on YouTube loads, but it’s the first time I’ve actually been able to try it. I want one!”

For those of you that want a more action packed experience of the Oculus Rift, we will also be bringing DOOM VR and Duke Nukem 3D VR. Fusing the best of retro gaming with the very latest in modern day technology, these games are sure to thrill any gamer.

If you want to experience the Oculus Rift and the games on offer, get to London Film & Comic Con
