Aly is an independent comic artist based in Manchester.
Originally a traditional animator, he worked on TV shows such as Danger Mouse and Count Duckula, before a ten year stint in computer games as animator and concept artist.
Alongside Barbara Moore he created the best-selling ‘Steampunk Tarot Deck’ for Llewelyn Publishing, worked on covers for books by Seanan McGuire and contributed to various collections including Heavy Metal, and his 2016 Dark Horse Publishing comic ’The Shadow Glass’ was critically acclaimed.
Now he writes and draws his own books/comics that he finances through crowd-funding; one of which – ‘A Trick of the Light’ – won the ‘Comic Scene’ best crowd-funder award 2022.
He is currently working on the third in a sequence of four graphic novels that began with ‘A Trick of the Light’ and continued with ‘The Kissing Gate’ – this one will be a supernatural story set in Devon during the 1920s.
