Emma loves telling stories with pictures and believes that comics should be “For everyone, About anything, By anyone” (F.A.B).
Since starting her freelance career in 2006 with Selfmadehero’s manga Shakespeare: Hamlet, she has worked as an artist and writer across multiple publishers, genres and formats; winning the writers’ Scribe award for best graphic novel with her Life in Strange comic series in 2022. Whether spies, vampires, superheroes or teenaged troublemakers, her work often focuses on human connection and matters of the heart.
2024 sees her BREAKS series (co-created with Malin Ryden) released as a three book series from Orbit books.
Past titles include: the award winning six-book series, Life is Strange (titan comics); the New York Times best selling Vampire Academy: the graphic novel series (Penguin random house); ), The Modern Frankenstein (Magma comix), Olivia Twist (Dark Horse), Back to the Future (IDW) and a plethora of comics and graphic novels besides, for publishers including: Marvel, DC, Image, Walker books, Harper Collins, Simon & Schuster and Oni press.
